Kaptur, Vincent Daniel, 339th Infantry

This is the military record for Vincent Daniel Kaptur. He was born in Osceola Township, Houghton, Michigan on 13 July 1895 and was buried on 30 December 1987 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Oakland, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army in World War I after reporting for initial training to Camp Custer, Michigan, which is about 6 miles west of Battle Creek. He served in the Ordnance Engineering Camp in Peoria, Illinois from 9 March 1918 to 16 January 1919 when he was honorably discharged. He was a Private in Company G of the 339th Infantry and never served overseas. Submitted by his great nephew, Joseph F. Martin of Romeoville, Illinois, in March 2009.
