The 1864 Switzerland County Courthouse copied the plan of the 1855 Courthouse. The two had different builders, so some visible details are different and there is no side entrance in Vevay.
Historical county record books suffered water damage in the 2009 fire, but many of them had been microfilmed. Efforts are underway (2010) to recover as many of the records as possible. No pertinent county records were destroyed in the other two fires noted.
The courthouse lawn includes a Civil War Monument dedicated in 1908 and a Jefferson County War Memorial.
