The First Courthouse was converted to other uses, then moved, then served yet more uses. The Second Courthouse was moved in 1871 and converted to another use, but burned in 1874.
The 1872 Courthouse was designed by Gordon Randall who also designed Courthouses in Fowler in Benton County and Williamsport in Warren County.
An addition has been added to the north end of the 1872 Courthouse. It is very difficult to add an aesthetically pleasing addition to a rectangular, symmetrically styled building but Marshall County was forced to do so by a local judge. It makes little sense that this was done since there is and was a county office building across the street.
