The Jennings County Courthouse completed in 1861 utilized the same design as the 1859 courthouse. Hodgson designed the Jennings County Courthouse but utilized a different building so there are significant detail differences. Morgan County has made major additions to their Courthouse and Jennings has not, so they are no longer the same.
A Fire in 1876 in the Clerk and Auditors offices caused a major loss of county records, including early courthouse details.
The courthouse square contains a Morgan Co. Veterans War Memorial. There is also an 1846 24-pound cannon and an 8-inch mortar.
