Orange County claims to have the second oldest Courthouse in the State after Ohio County's of 1845. In fact however, the Fayette County Courthouse was originally constructed in 1849 making Orange County's Courthouse the third oldest in the State. Fayette County uses the date of 1890 for their courthouse, but that is the date of a major remodeling.
Many Courthouses were painted white over the years, but Orange County is the only one that remains white. The white may remain because of brick color mismatches with the two additions.
