This is a transcription of the lists of voters in Hendricks County, Indiana for an election held on Monday, 2 August 1847 to elect one Representative to Congress for the 7th District; one Representative to the Indiana General Assembly; one County Treasurer and Collector; one County Coroner; one School Commissioner; one County Commissioner (for the 2nd District); one County Surveyor; and one County Assessor.
The lists of voters were compiled for each of the 10 townships that existed in Hendricks County at the time (Lincoln Township and Union Township did not exist yet). The voting places were listed as Brownsburg (Brown Township), Danville (Center Township), Springfield (Clay Township), North Salem (Eel River Township), Stilesville (Franklin Township), Plainfield (Guilford Township), Belleville (Liberty Township), New Winchester (Marion Township), Pittsboro and Darnall School (Middle Township) and McClain's Schoolhouse (Washington Township).
Some of Hendricks County's early voter lists have been microfilmed; that microfilm is available at the Indiana State Library, as well as through the Family History Library. Copies of the August 1847 voter lists are in the collection of Plainfield Public Library.
