Weeden/Nelson Whaley Family Group Sheet Archives
The Jackie Weeden/Ruby Nelson research team formed in 1989, a collaboration that resulted in A Closer Look: The Early Georgia Whaleys. Along the way, both Weeden and Nelson encountered Whaley records that did not necessarily dovetail into their direct lines, but might for someone else. These nearly 1,000 family group sheets were forged from their diligence and generosity.
A correspondence between Jackie Weeden and members of the Whaley Search Party, an early Internet "bulletin board" that would become part of Rootsweb, kept some of this research online and available to eager researchers making inquiries about their specific Whaley.
Jackie and Ruby died in 2008, four months apart. Their rigorous attention to detail and insistence on sourcing information made us all much better researchers and genealogists. We thank them for their gifts and are happy to share their work with the Allen County Public Library's Genealogy Center. Jackie spent many hours there, pouring over records. We know she would appreciate how things have come full circle.
Note: The family group sheets are arranged alphabetically by the first name of the Whaley ancestor.
