Green Hill Cemetery, Augusta County, Virginia
Green Hill Cemetery is located in Churchville on Green Hill Lane just off of Route 42 (Buffalo Gap Highway). The cemetery is located about 3/4 mile down the road on the left side. 381247N 0790955W. This is the largest cemetery in Churchville and is still in use today. The cemetery itself is in nice condition and has approximately 2000 people interred. The oldest section is just inside the main entrance to the right side. Most of the newer burials are in the rear and to the right of the entrance, however there is still a lot of unused space that will keep this as a place for future burials. One interesting tombstone is that of a World War I soldier in a full army uniform.
The cemetery was read and imaged in August and September 2005. The database and associated images are the copyrighted work of William E. Wilson, Jr. who generously supplied them to the Allen County Public Library for distribution to individual genealogical researchers.
